Slumdog Millionaire: West Loves Eastern Poverty
The success of Slumdog Millionaire in western cinemas have shown that the western audiance still love to see poverty in any subject related to India or Asia in general. The underdog story where a begger kid from the slums win a multi million rupee prize in a game show does show that how a country of a billion still struggles to give a better life for its citizens. Indians should be ashamed and not be proud of such a movie, which depicts India in its worst form. Indian politicians should be ashamed that such a movie is still shown after 60 years of Indian Independence. We are showing that India is rising global power, but such movies still are able to expose in soft underbelly of poverty and dirt which still are very much a part of our society.
