5 golden rules when you get a job in a small entreprise

People dream big! Of big offers, Of big salaries and of big corporate jobs, but its always not the case. Sometimes you will have to settle for something which is not as big, but better than not having a job at all. We sometimes take offers from small enterprises to make our days meal or just to earn a few bucks, this is so true of freshers in the job, but we may think that there is still a better opportunity outside and leave the job within a few days of work.

Here are 5 golden rules for people just in this mindset:
  1. If you think there is a better opportunity, think before accepting the offer else you can reject it in interview itself.
  2. Once you join the company as an employee, you have committed your loyally towards the organization (no matter how small) and have accepted its location and work conditions.
  3. Communicate all your queries to the manager or owner for necessary feedback. Sometimes miscommunication may lead to a blacklisting of your name from further employment.
  4. Treat your employers with same respect and gratitude you would to any manager of a big company, you will never know when this company may become big and you would not like your name to be in the blacklist that time
  5. If you like to leave the company for not being to "Your standards" communicate the same to the manager or owner and be frank in your approach. Sometimes it may help them to improve their organisation and also keep you in their good books.
Remember any organization, no matter how small has a chance to be big (Remember Google was started in a garage and not in some fancy "Campus" you see today) so never miss your chance to rejoin the same company only due to a little "Attitude" you displayed when the organization was small.

Can freelancers handling your IT requirements destory your business?

Currently in India we are in a transition economic state where many small and medium enterprises are budding up owned by young entrepreneurs or by middle aged people who have left a well paid job to do something of their own.

But when you start such an enterprises you cant be a master of all trades and an enterprise needs all the departments to work in perfect sync. You can be master of marketing, technical design and development, IT or finance. but cant be the master of all the departments. You need some professional help to regulate all these departments.

Many of these entrepreneurs depend on their friends or relatives with some knowledge of technology to guide them in setting up an IT infrastructure.

But is it a good move?

There are always young and energetic "advisers" available for the latest and best in technology, but can we as entrepreneurs should be dependent on them  and hand over a part of our business to them? There are many questions to be answered before we take such a step

  1. What is the persons commitment towards my business?
  2. He has knowledge fine, but does he have the experience to advice or take crucial decisions on behalf of my business?
  3. He is motivated now, but what if he gets a better offer than what i can ever offer?
  4. What if he tomorrow starts to take over or interfere in my business more than what is expected from him?
all these questions should be asked to self before associating with such individuals with our own business

Remember: These people can be asset or a very huge liability to any company, but its always better and secure to take help from a professional company who is paid to handle your requirements and have no other motives or stakes in your business.
